The People Behind the Software: How Our Design and Development Teams Build with You in Mind

Updated: Aug 7

At Pedigree Technologies, the technology we offer is powerful, but it’s the people behind the software who make it truly impactful. They’re the ones turning complex ideas into clear, functional, and flexible tools that work in the real world. For our Product Development and User Experience teams, success means more than how many features and products we launch, but how much value each one brings to our customers.

We spoke with two key players who help drive this effort: Josh DeCock, Vice President of Product Management, and Laura Schjeldahl, Senior User Experience Designer. Together with their teams, they’re shaping the future of our software, one customer insight at a time.

Built Around the Customer

At Pedigree, product development starts with one core goal: making the best software for the customer. It’s not about building what we think is best, but it’s about listening to the people who use our tools every day and solving their real problems.

Josh DeCock VP of Product Management quote

That’s why gathering feedback is baked into every step of the process. From beta testing and customer interviews to demo days and design reviews, the product team is constantly seeking input from support teams, account managers, and most importantly, our customers themselves.

Thoughtful Design, From the Start

User Experience (UX) isn’t something that’s added at the end; it’s part of the process from day one.

Every new feature starts with research, collaboration, and iterative testing. Whether it’s improving a workflow or designing a new screen, our team focuses on making things intuitive, efficient, and useful across a wide range of industries and user types.

The result? A software platform that feels tailor-made, even as it adapts to vastly different needs.

Behind Every Feature is Real Teamwork

Behind the scenes, our design and development teams work hand-in-hand with other departments, like support, sales, account management, and training, to stay in touch with what customers are experiencing.

“Our job isn’t to push a new feature,” says Josh. “It’s to find the right solution, one that actually works in our customers’ daily operations.”

By staying connected across departments and keeping the feedback loop open, our product team can adapt quickly. One of the tools that helps? Demo Day. Every other week, teams gather to review what’s been built, test new features, and gather input from across the company.

“We get live feedback from people who talk to customers every day. If something’s not quite right, we can pivot immediately,” says Laura.

People Who Think Differently

When it comes to building great software, the right team matters. That’s why Pedigree looks for developers and designers who are not only talented but also curious, collaborative, and humble.

“We look for people who are hard-working problem-solvers,” says Josh. “But more importantly, people who can think differently and aren’t afraid to say, ‘Hey, what if there’s a better way?’”

That mindset of collaboration and humility helps create a culture where the best idea wins, not just the loudest. It also keeps the focus on the customer, not the ego

Designed with the Customer in Mind

From flexible configuration options to user-friendly design, everything our teams build is shaped around one clear priority: you.

We believe your software should work the way you do, not the other way around. That’s why we design tools that adapt to your workflows, grow with your business, and reflect your feedback every step of the way.

Because when it comes to building great technology, your success is our mission, and our product and design teams are here to make sure it stays that way.
